台湾を拠点にディレクター・ビジュアルアーティストとして活動する李奧森(ヴァル・リー)は、2024年から2026年にかけて広島、沖縄、青森でフィールドワークとブラインドサッカーチームへの取材を行い、写真作品《The Sorrowful Football Team》を制作しました。その際に出会ったブラインドサッカーチーム「ガルハ青森」との協働のもと、リサーチ成果を観客参加型のパフォーマンスとして発表します。
パラリンピックの正式種目であるブラインドサッカーでは、選手がアイマスクをした状態で、ガイドや他の選手の声を頼りに試合を行います。スペイン語で「行く」を意味する”Voy”は、ブラインドサッカーの試合において、衝突を避けるため自分の進行方向を知らせる掛け声として用いられます。目で見ることとは別の方法によって、試合やトレーニングに必要なこと―例えば周りの空間を把握すること、選手間の関係性の構築—は、どのようになされるのでしょうか。そうした実践に運動する身体が浸されるとき、視覚を前提とした知覚はどのようにひらき直されるのでしょうか。本作品《Voy!》は、観客を巻き込んだ音と視覚表現のパフォーマティブ・アセンブリーとして、こうした問いに向き合います。

Taiwan-based director and visual artist Val Lee visited Japan between 2024 and 2026, where Lee conducted fieldwork and interviews with local blind football teams in Hiroshima, Okinawa, and Aomori to produce a new photographic work, “The Sorrowful Football Team.” In collaboration with Garuha Aomori, a blind football team the artist encountered during these visits, Lee presents an ongoing research project on blind football in the form of a participatory performance.
Blind football, an official sport in the Paralympics, is a game in which players wear eye shades and rely on the voices of guides and other players. “Voy”—Spanish for “I’m going”—is used during blind football matches as a call to indicate one’s direction of movement to avoid collisions. Through ways other than sight, how are the essential elements of matches and training—such as spatial awareness and relationship building—processed? When a moving body enters such practices, how is perception, premised on vision, reoriented and expanded? To address these questions, “Voy!” will take shape as a sonic-visual performative assembly involving the audience.
